Word Press and UX/UI Designer with Drupal Experience

Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain websites and applications using WordPress and Drupal , ensuring high performance, availability, and scalability.
- Customize themes and plugins to meet specific project requirements.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to implement responsive and visually appealing web designs that align with brand guidelines and user experience best practices.
- Ensure website functionality and performance across different browsers and devices, troubleshooting issues and resolving bugs as they arise.
- Optimize websites for SEO and performance , ensuring sites meet modern web standards and load efficiently.
- Maintain and improve custom themes, plugins, and modules while adhering to industry best practices and accessibility standards such as Section 508and WCAG .
- Implement and ensure responsive design principles are applied to deliver a consistent experience across devices.
- Work closely with UX/UI teams when not actively engaged in WordPress/Drupal projects, supporting design tasks like user research, wireframing, and prototyping .
- Stay up-to-date with the latest web development trends and best practices to improve functionality and user experience.
- Collaborate with project managers, product owners, and stakeholders to ensure project timelines, objectives, and deliverables are met.
- Report directly to the UX/UI Design Manager and provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and solutions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development , a related field, bootcamp certificate, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with WordPress and Drupal development, including theme and plugin/module development.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in web development , specifically working with WordPress and Drupal.
- Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL .
- Experience with custom theme and plugin development in WordPress and Drupal site building , module development, and theming.
- Strong understanding of responsive design principles and how to implement them.
- Experience with modern product development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
- Proficiency in version control systems (Git) and deployment workflows.
- Advanced understanding of UX/UI design principles , including typography, layout, color theory, and iconography.
- Ability to apply and implement accessibility standards such as Section 508and WCAG .
- Experience using design systems and UI libraries to develop scalable web components.
- Proven experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating real-world projects where you contributed as both a developer and designer.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.
- Familiarity with other content management systems such as Joomla or Shopify .
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards (Section 508 compliance).
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies .
- Experience conducting user research , creating personas, and facilitating UX workshops.
- Design Thinking certification or training .
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience leading or mentoring junior developers/designers on best practices.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
