The California Department of Social Services Quality Management Branch (CSQMB) is an energetic and visible organization that is responsible for maintaining the integrity of child and family services provided by the 58 California counties by providing leadership, training, technical assistance, and oversight of county and community agencies to promote the safety, permanency and well-being of children. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is willing to take on a challenge and to provide leadership, direction, and motivation to staff towards this effort.
Under the general direction of the Chief of the Performance and Program Improvement Bureau (SSM II), the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling a comprehensive collaborative process with county Child Welfare Services (CWS) and Probation agencies along with other public and private agencies to provide quality service to children and families in California's CWS program by leading the development of new training curriculum and providing technical assistance to all 58 counties. The SSM I in conjunction with other Bureau staff provides assistance to staff to conduct research, analyze and interpret data, interpret state policies, formulate and implement statewide program improvement recommendations. Additionally, the Quality Assurance Manager promotes the Bureau's work in addressing racial disproportionality and disparity in CWS, along with ensuring tribal engagement and inclusion in the counties' continuous quality improvement process.
Telework / Remote Work Information: This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under California Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Specific telework arrangements may be discussed in more detail with the respective hiring manager. This work location is very convenient! The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer’s markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80.
