Job Description
Goldberg Segalla, a national yet tight-knit community of legal talent, is seeking a full time Legal Writer experienced in drafting articles about a wide variety of emerging topics in law on behalf of and with the guidance of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). In collaboration with on-staff researcher, the ideal candidate will be skilled at identifying and distilling complex hot topics into actionable thought leadership articles by leveraging research, spotting trends, and conducting internal SME interviews to learn more about the subject to create original content in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: - Under the guidance of the Director of Marketing and the relevant SME attorney, tee up clean, engaging, accurate, timely and forward-thinking client-facing content for SMEs to review, edit, contextualize and send out for publication across firm channels and the media
- Collaborate with the Director of Marketing, Practice Group Leadership, SMEs, Research and Business Development teams on identifying, conceptualizing and equitably disseminating compelling content across the firm’s primary areas of law
- Work with Marketing and Public Relations team on topic identification, placement, posting, alert generation, social media posting and other content dissemination
- Develop calendar and scheduling cadence for articles based on editorial publication schedules, emerging opportunities and workload capacity
- Track the progress of content utilization and publication to hone best practices for content generation and fine tune approach
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor’s degree in English, writing, journalism, communications, law or related field required
- Minimum 5 years’ of relevant experience required, previous law firm or other relevant professional services experience preferred
- Exceptional writing, editing, interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience writing in media-friendly Associated Press style
- Excellent time management skills, including demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects under tight deadlines
- Ability to quickly grasp and translate technical legal jargon into broadly understandable content
- Broad depth of knowledge of the business world, compassion for the challenges clients can face, and solutions-oriented toward sharing best practices preventative measures
- Self-motivated, enjoys a challenge and learning new things
- Demonstrates reliability and professionalism
- Ability to function effectively both independently and as a member of a team
- Detailed knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products
- Portfolio of writing samples required for this position
Benefits: This role offers an annual salary. The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job related factors permitted by law. This position also offers a full benefits package.
