Under the general supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor), the incumbent performs professional accounting work of average difficulty related to the Accounting Office’s Accounts Payable-Voucher Section. The Accounting Officer position will apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), State Administrative Manual (SAM) and various control agency policies and procedures in analyzing documents and posting them in Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) and various other California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) automated systems.

Working Conditions

This position is advertised as Limited-term for 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or may become permanent.

This advertisement is listed specifically for San Francisco (LA, SF, SAC) location.  All identified locations will be considered as one candidate pool to fill one position.

Special Requirements

Prepare and submit a response for each question below. The SOQ should provide specific details and examples that clearly demonstrate how your training, experience, and education qualifies you for the position. The SOQ must be no smaller than 11-point Arial font, single-spaced, and no more than two pages.

1. Describe your experience with Accounts Payable.
2. Describe your experience working with others to complete a project or task.
3. Describe your ability to communicate effectively to a diverse audience (e.g. Accounting staff, non-Accountants, other work groups, etc.)

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Working with accounting systems preferably the State's accounting system (FI$Cal) or like systems.
• Knowledge of the accounting cycle pertaining to budgeting, accounting, reporting, and auditing.
• A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
